Wordfence alternative for choosing which site to fix first

Who this page is for

You already run Wordfence on client sites. The scans are real. The problem is the pile: ten or fifty dashboards, each with its own alerts, and a retainer that only covers a few hours. You searched for a Wordfence alternative because the per-site console stopped being a way to choose work.

Wordfence’s own plans describe a different buyer. Free and Premium are for a self-administered site. Care ($590 per site per year) is for an owner who wants an analyst to install and watch that one site. Response ($1,250 per site per year) is for a mission-critical site that needs a person on a one-hour incident clock. None of those plans is a portfolio sort.

What the Wordfence bill does at agency scale

Prices checked 24 September 2026 on Wordfence’s pricing page. Premium is $149 per site per year.

• 10 sites — $1,490 per year. WP Triage Pro, which covers 6–25 sites, is $29 per month.
• 25 sites — $3,725 per year. Pro still covers the book, at $29 per month ($348 per year).
• 50 sites — $7,450 per year. WP Triage Agency is $49 per month for 26–50 sites ($588 per year).

Those two columns buy different things. Dropping Premium to “save” the gap leaves the sites without a firewall. Keeping Premium and adding WP Triage is the switch this page is about: the license keeps blocking, the score picks the queue. Plan details are on pricing.

What you switch, and what you keep

Keep Wordfence, or another firewall, on every site where you need requests blocked, malware scanned, or logins locked down. The WP Triage vs Wordfence table lists those jobs on the Wordfence side on purpose.

Switch the priority list. WP Triage connects with one agent key, reads each site’s plugins, themes, PHP, and WordPress version, and returns a 0–100 score, a top three, and a fix order. Alerts fire for critical issues and sharp score drops, not for every scan Wordfence already emailed you about.

How to switch the decision, not the firewall

1. Leave Wordfence installed on the sites that need it.
2. Create a WP Triage account and connect the same sites with the agent plugin.
3. Sort by score. Work Critical and At Risk sites in the stated order. Run the updates in your usual tool.
4. On the next snapshot, check that the score moved. If a finding is accepted risk, suppress it so it stops competing with real exposure.

Who should stay on Wordfence and skip WP Triage?
