Two counts

Count	What it means
Site slots	Every distinct URL on the account, including paused sites. This is what the plan cap enforces.
Active sites	URLs currently monitored (snapshots, scoring, alerts, digest). Pause lowers this without freeing a slot.

Pause vs permanent delete

• Pause monitoring — ingest and alerts stop; history remains; the slot stays occupied. Use this when a client is on hold.
• Permanent delete — frees the slot for a different URL. Required when you are at cap and need to onboard a new site.
• Reconnect the same paused URL — does not consume an extra slot; reactivation still respects the active-site cap.

Counting only active sites would let an account pause one client and rotate in another forever on a cheap plan. Slots exist to prevent that.

Connecting sites at cap

The agent plugin registers a site when you save the agent key. A new URL is blocked when you are out of slots. Connecting a URL you already paused is treated as reactivation, not as a new slot. Setup: connecting WordPress.

Downgrades

If you move to a smaller plan while you still have too many URLs, WP Triage can auto-pause excess active sites and keep the riskiest ones monitored. Permanently delete sites you no longer need if you must free slots.

Common questions

Does pausing a site free a plan slot?

No. Pause stops monitoring, alerts, and digest coverage but keeps the URL occupying a slot so history stays attached. Permanently delete the site to free the slot for a different URL.

What happens if I downgrade below my site count?

If a plan change would exceed the new cap, WP Triage can auto-pause the excess active sites and keep the riskiest ones monitored. You can also permanently delete URLs you no longer need.

Is public beta the same product as paid plans?

Yes — the same scoring engine and plugin. Public beta caps you at 2 sites without a card. Paid plans add slots.
